HARLEEN
Harleen Kalra, DPT, Bsc.

Physiotherapist

Harleen is a physiotherapist that got her Bachelor’s of Science from UBC and went on to get her Doctor of Physiotherapy degree from Melbourne University.
She has been working in the WhiteRock community since 2018. She currently specializes in orthopaedic conditions including pre & post-surgical rehabilitation, sports related injuries, any musculoskeletal pain and conditions. Additionally, Harleen has recently specialized as a vestibular physiotherapist and treats conditions such as vertigo and dizziness.
In her spare time Harleen enjoys yoga and meditation.

Catherine Chung

Registered Massage Therapist

Catherine is a graduate of the Canadian College of Massage and Hydrotherapy in Toronto, ON. Coming from a therapy-based background, her main goal is to promote health and injury prevention for all her clients. Catherine develops individual treatment plans after assessing a client’s health history. Through strong communication, Catherine gives her clients therapeutic exercises and education to extend the effectiveness of her treatments. She has treated patients with chronic pain, pregnancy, children who are in competitive sports, and individuals who are simply “stressed out”. She has worked in a multidisciplinary clinic alongside health practitioners who shared her belief in holistic and client centric approach. She specializes in a unique style of Swedish as well as deep tissue massage.

Luke Chen

Registered Massage Therapist

Luke graduated from Vancouver Career College of Massage Therapy in 2017. Prior to that, Luke obtained a bachelor in Kinesiology at Simon Fraser University in 2010, with a minor in active rehab. During his time at SFU, Luke volunteered at GF Strong Rehab Centre in assisting individuals with spinal cord injuries to participate in cycle training with electrical stimulation. In the recent few years, Luke developed a passion to provide care that is specific and individualized to his clients’ need. Luke has experience providing care to clients with physical demanding jobs, undergoing recovery  from a motor vehicle accident, or recovering from intense athletic training.
Luke finds joy in helping others by utilizing his tactile sensitivity to zone in  on specific areas that need specific attention. To provide precise pressure and maximum therapeutic care, Luke received training for Graston Technique in Fort Lauderdale, USA. In conjunction with use of hot stone, Luke provides an experience that is unique and well received by his patients. Luke utilizes a variety of technique in Swedish, trigger point therapy, joint mobilization, and myofascial release to provide care that is complete and therapeutic.  In addition to providing massage to his clients, Luke is also quite eager to share his knowledge on hydrotherapy, therapeutic exercises, and work place ergonomics to further assist his clients.

Joley

Reflexologists

Joley has a passion and love for working with people. She has a background of working with people with addiction and mental health. From there has started working as an administrative assistant in medical clinics and RMT and physiotherapy clinics. While working at the RMT and physiotherapy clinics she gained an interest in holistic medicine and healing as these places have opened her eyes to a whole new world of healing. Currently Joley is working at Physiatrix as an office manager and decided to study reflexology. At this time she has completed a course in basic reflexology as well as Thai reflexology while studying to become a certified reflexologist as the Universal College of Reflexology. During her spare time she enjoys playing sports, mainly softball, spending time outdoors hiking, camping, fishing while spending time with her family and friends.

Gurman Mangat, DPT, Bsc.

Physiotherapist

Gurman graduated from Simon Fraser University with a Bachelor’s in Health Science and a minor in Biology and then decided to complete her Doctorate of Physiotherapy in Melbourne, Australia. She has now been working as a physiotherapist in the lower mainland since 2016, and is loving every bit of it! She is well-equipped in treating musculoskeletal conditions, such as back and neck pain, acute and chronic injuries, pre and post-surgical rehabilitation, and pregnancy-related pelvic girdle pain. She also runs exercise sessions to improve overall health and fitness. She is certified in Functional Dry Needling I and II. In her spare time, Gurman likes to do all travel, play with her puppies and spend time with her friends and family.

Sheeja was born and raised in India. Sheeja has a real passion for Massage Therapy. She has many years of experience in rehabilitation and pain management. She customizes her massages to your individual needs and has a very caring professional presence. On her spare time she likes to be with her family.

Kinesiologist

“The thing I like the most about Kinesiology is knowing I can make a difference in people’s lives every day. Figuring out someone’s needs and customizing a program to get them back to close to their normal life is both important and extremely rewarding. Active Rehabilitation is just not a program, it’s a lifestyle which is sustainable and attainable.
In my free time I would love to play badminton and exploring new hiking trails.”

Christiane has been a full-time Registered Massage Therapist in Northern Ontario since 2013 after graduating from Collège Boréal in Sudbury, Ontario. In her little hometown, she is praised for her healing touch and her ability to connect with the client’s body on all levels.

She is also an energy worker, practicing as a LightPriestess, having received her level 2 attunement in 2017.

Her approach to bodywork is rather unique. She works to slowly engage with the body to assess what it needs, working to alleviate any tension or pain by integrating Swedish, Deep Tissue and Trigger Point style massage, Myofascial and connective tissue release, and Reiki. She believes we all contain the innate ability to heal and uses an intuitive approach to create the ideal environment for your body to unwind. Through compassionate and careful listening, she addresses both physical and energetic issues, gently ushering your body toward peace, balance, relaxation and the potential for deep releasing of all kinds.

Her soul has been pushing for her to share her gifts with those who are ready to start their healing journey.

Nafeez Syed, BPT, MPT, (Ph.D.)

Physiotherapist

Nafeez Syed holds Bachelor and Master’s degrees in Physiotherapy from India and is currently finishing his Ph.D. in Rehabilitation Sciences at The University of British Columbia, Vancouver, BC. He began his career as a Physiotherapist in 2003 and has upgraded himself constantly, both in his qualifications and skill sets. 

Nafeez is certified in Gunn Intra Muscular Stimulation (IMS) and has completed all the 4-levels needed for Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT) certification from Robin McKenzie Institute, Canada. Alongside, advanced trainings in Myofascial mobilization and Mulligan mobilization of cervical spine and upper extremities, he is specialized in treatment of spinal and other joint problems. He is also certified by American Institute of Balance in Vestibular rehabilitation & Concussion, and is a certified therapist in Radial Shockwave and LASER therapies for various musculoskeletal problems.  Low back pain is Nafeez’s key area of interest as reflected from his large clientele and research publication record.

Nayul Kim R.TCM.P

Acupuncturist

Nayul is a registered acupuncturist. She has earned her degree from Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, after a rigorous five-year program both in the classroom and under clinical supervision as an intern, she practiced in China.

Nayul specializes in treating all types of acute and chronic pain often associated with soft tissue damage also in women health and mental health such as PMS, period pain, insomnia and anxiety disorder.

She incorporate various TCM diagnostic approaches and uses acupuncture, cupping, tuina and therapeutic heat to relieve physical and emotional blockages in the body. In addition, she believes TCM has a strong focus on prevention and is beneficial in the maintenance of good health.

Nayul also specializes in Mei Zen/Cosmetic Acupuncure. Mei Zen literally means “beautiful person” in Chinese. Mei Zen, or Cosmetic Acupuncture, uses ancient Chinese medicine practices to “turn back the clock” on aging. It is an exciting alternative to plastic surgery, Botox and potentially “unhealthy” or invasive techniques that has proved to show amazing results!

Mei Zen uses a minimally invasive needling technique that works to rebuild the elastin and collagen matrix of the skin. In other words, each needle creates a micro trauma that stimulates the dermis to rebuild itself with new skin.

Keary is a graduate of the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition in Vancouver with a background in Recreation Services. As a Registered Holistic Nutritionist, he focuses on using nutrition in conjunction with exercise and healthy lifestyle habits to help clients achieve their goals. Keary works in-depth with clients to uncover root causes related to symptoms, developing highly personalized health protocols, using food and natural health products. Keary specializes in gut health, plant-based nutrition, auto-immune conditions, and general healthy eating practices.

Registered Acupuncturist

Jasmine has been working as an registered acupuncturist since 2007. She is treating many clients who never experienced acupuncture treatments, but she always manages and focuses on making them as feel comfortable as they can be. She is good at gentle needling techniques incorporating Cupping, Gua-Sha, Tuina massage and Moxibustion. She is also a proficient cosmetic acupuncture which is known ‘Mei Zen’.

She has had success in treatments for back pain, shoulder pain, motor vehicle injuries, immune promote, stress reduction, headache and insomnia.
In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, doing Qi-gong and meditation. She believes ‘where there is free flow of Qi(energy), there is no pain, no disease.’
